The National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to invite NIH Stage Model Stage II-V research applications focused on the development of behavioral interventions for persons living with Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD) and/or their care partners or caregivers. Awards made through this NOFO will support a milestone-driven planning phase for up to two years, with possible transition to a clinical trial phase pending successful completion of the required milestones. The intervention(s) to be tested as part of this NOFO are expected to be in a developed and testable form, with Stage I activities completed prior to the proposed work. Applications are not being solicited at this time. Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. This NOFO intends to utilize the R61/R33 activity code. Investigators with expertise and insights into this area of aging research are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this new NOFO.
