Description

The Award Ceiling for Year 1 is 0 (none). CDC anticipates an Approximate Total Fiscal Year Funding amount of $1,500,000 for Year 1, subject to the availability of funds.Access to high-quality laboratory diagnostic services is critical for successful public health programs that address HIV, TB, and related diseases. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided technical support to Caribbean laboratories, strengthening systems, building staff capacity, and achieving accreditation for twelve public health laboratories. Despite these successes, more work is required to ensure efficient and sustainable laboratory systems. Increased support is needed to expand and sustain laboratory capacity, improve timely diagnostics, enhance monitoring services, and scale-up of care and treatment programs for HIV, TB, STIs, and other related diseases. This NOFO builds on previous work and lessons learned from Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministries of Health (MOHs), with a focus on:Supporting and achieving accreditation of public health laboratories.Strengthening the laboratory workforce through in-service training.Facilitating the expansion of laboratory information systems and integration with health information systems.Enhancing HIV/TB-related testing and diagnostic capacity for opportunistic infections.Establishing efficient laboratory programs to facilitate HIV-related diagnostic and monitoring services in PEPFAR-supported countries.
