The purpose of this program is to fully prepare graduate-level healthcare students to understand, identify, access, intervene, and treat patients with a substance use disorder (SUD), including misuse and abuse, upon becoming licensed practitioners. Students will gain the knowledge of the overall medical consequences of SUD as a chronic illness, evidence-based treatment options, and the possibility and support of recovery. Students will gain practical experience working with practitioners treating SUD as well as an understanding from individuals living in long-term recovery about the effectiveness of treatment.
